With its languid tempos and terrifying low-end rumble, Australasian doom metal purveyor Whitehorse is redefining what it means to produce "heavy" music. The six-piece Melbourne-based band makes music that, while deliberately slow, lurches ahead with breathtaking ferocity. The band's open, airy rhythms leave a sonic space effectively filled with squalls of guitar feedback, guttural screaming, experimental noisemaking and, of course, that ever-present bass rumble.
