There's a large garbage dump called Arabrot located in Haugesund, Norway. When city planers were looking for a site to build a school for troubled youths, they decided to start construction on top of the landfill. When a metal-influenced noise rock band formed in 2001 and started to craft activated tunes with extremely high levels of distortion, the group decided to name itself Arabrot - in honor of the educational facility located on top of Scandinavian refuse. Comprised of two singer/songwriters, who play guitar and drums, the group has built a reputation for itself in the Norwegian independent music scene as being a group with very enraged vocals and capable of creating some extremely nuanced noise rock that's highly influenced by modern Northern European metal bands.
