Nive Nielsen is an indie folk singer/songwriter from Greenland who might be the first musician to promote the brand new genre of "Eskimo folk." Sporting her instrument of choice--a pink ukulele--Nielsen has been proudly introducing audiences to Greenlandic folk music (mixed in with a healthy dose of rock for good measure) since debuting outside of her home country in the late 2000s. Since then, Nielsen, and her band The Deer Children, have been hailed by critics and fans as one of the next indie folk sensations, particularly due to her charismatic ability to introduce a whole new world of music to captivated audiences wherever she goes.
