Singer and actress Linda Eder rose to fame during her 1987 appearance on the television show Star Search when she won the competitions 12 weeks in a row. The following year she auditioned for the leading role in Jekyll & Hyde, and after impressing composer Frank Wildhorn with her strong vocals she was immediately cast. After an extended run of the show, Wildhorn cast his two leading actors Eder and Chuck Wagner in the debut of his musical Svengali, during which Eder recorded and released her self-titled debut solo album. While reprising her role as Lucy in Jekyll & Hyde on Broadway, for which she won a Theatre World Award and a Drama Desk Award in 1997, she was critically acclaimed for her powerhouse vocal performance as well as her solo work. Eder developed a pop/country sound beginning with her 2008 album The Other Side of Me, which did not include her usual power ballads. On her 2011 album Now, Eder reunited with Wildhorn to produce a dynamic work of pop, Broadway, country and jazz music.
