Michael Franti is a singer/songwriter, musician and poet who is best known as the lead vocalist of Michael Franti & Spearhead. Born to an Irish-German-French mother and an African American-Native American father and adopted into the Oakland, California-based Franti family, he owns a multitude of influences that inspire his fusion music. Blending hip-hop, funk, reggae and jazz as well as elements of folk and rock into his sound, Franti has developed a reputation not only for offering genre-spanning tunes, but also as a serious advocate for peace and social justice.
