Garrison Keillor is an American author, radio personality and humorist who is probably best known as host of the radio variety show A Prairie Home Companion. Born and raised in Minnesota, Keillor went to the University of Minnesota, where he began his broadcasting career at the university's student-run station, Radio K. In a ploy to create a program that would showcase an eclectic mix of rural music and humor, Keillor created the show A Prairie Home Companion in 1974 and though at first it struggled to find a listening base, the show has now grown into a mainstay of the American radio zeitgeist. With a strong knack for sharp wit, Keillor has evolved over the years to be an easily identifiable individual who's well-intentioned and affable personality have managed to resonate deeply with listeners of his show.
