Located east of San Diego, Borrego Springs is a small desert community of 2,500 people (swelling to over 6,000 with winter visitors). This festival is hosted each year during the last weekend of October. A parade down Palm Canyon Drive is one feature of the extravaganza along with numerous booths and displays. Naturally, food is plentiful. Most importantly, this time of year is a preferable season for tourists to see Borrego Springs. While Borrego experiences temperatures over 100 degrees in the summer, this heat is replaced by a mild autumn in October.
