Every year, the twin cities of Bristol, VA and Bristol, TN play host to Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, one of the country's most popular festivals of Americana music. The cities are separated by the state line which runs across their downtown areas, and downtown is exactly where the festival takes place. Launched in 2001, the event a celebration of local heritage - Bristol, TN is known as "the birthplace of country music," the site where some of the first commercial country recordings were made in 1927. The Rhythm & Roots Reunion is not only about country, however--folk, blues, and rock musicians also perform. Other entertainment options include fitness events (a run and a walk), a chili cook-off, and various family-friendly activities. The festival attracts tens of thousands of attendees. Please keep in mind that since this festival features concerts in multiple venues, some of those concerts might appear here as separate events. Some regular venues include the State Line Bar & Grille and the Birthplace of Country Music Alliance Museum.
