Jamila Woods is a singer/songwriter and poet who received a BA in Africana Studies and Theater & Performance Studies at Brown University before launching her music career in 2016 with her debut album, Haven. With an estimable knowledge of the African American experience and how it relates to modern culture, Woods fills her R&B meets hip-hop songs with lyrics that center around black identity, black feminism and marginalized cultures.
