Great White is a rock band from Los Angeles that was formed in 1977. The group rose to fame in the late 1980s with a string of popular singles such as the now classic song, "Once Bitten, Twice Shy." Although the group continued to release music throughout the 1990s, popular culture in America began to move away from Great White's Sunset Strip hair metal aesthetic in favor of a more contemporary and angst ridden Seattle grunge style. Despite the cultural shift, the band continued to release well respected metal albums such as 1994's Sail Away. After The band was thrust into the national spotlight after its show at The Station nightclub where the venue burst into flames due to an ill-monitored pyrotechnics display, killing 100 people including one of Great White's guitarists, and injuring just as many. As tragic as accident was, the band has managed to soldier on and continues to release albums like 2012's Elation, packed with its characteristic style of hard rock.
