Bobby Rush started performing at such a young age that he had to wear a fake mustache to get into the juke-joints he'd play at so the bouncers wouldn't throw him out for being underage. When he played, crowds were so wowed by his deep voice and funky grooves that his age was completely disregarded. Well into his 70s now, Rush still performs around the world and was the subject of a documentary named Standing the Test of Time, where his fellow blues musician friends and family tell stories about the ups and downs of Rush's career. Not a purist by any means, Bobby Rush will infuse funk rhythms into his music and is constantly finding ways to electrify crowds with backup dancers and costumes.
