Nova Scotia-based rock band Wintersleep was formed in 2001 by veteran musicians from bands including Holy Fuck, The Holy Shroud and Kary. Less electronica oriented than its members' other projects, Wintersleep creates charming indie rock/pop that was first captured on an eponymous debut album in 2003. The band captured industry attention with its third album Welcome to the Night Sky, which earned the Juno Award for New Group of the Year in 2008 and prompted the band to begin an intensive touring schedule throughout North America and Europe. After writing several hours of material on the road, Wintersleep released its fourth album New Inheritors, in 2010. Their seventh album, In The Land Of, was released in 2019 and was longlisted for the Polaris Music Prize.
