Zoufris Maracas is a French world music band that draws inspiration from African heritage and the greats of chanson music. It was founded by childhood friends Vincent Sanchez and Vincent Allard, who chose the name as a reference to a group of Algerian workers who came to France in the 1900s. Despite having founded the group, the two didn't get working on their music until a few years later. They began playing on the streets of Paris and at metro stations, where they were discovered by François Causse - a music producer who later became a drummer in the group. The outfit recruited Brice Moscardini and Michael Demeyere to its lineup and debuted in 2011 with the album Et ta mère. It was followed by Prison dorée and the EP Cocagne in 2012. Through its music, the group gives a lighthearted take on a wide range of issues that plague the world. Songs like "Chienne de vie," "Blue de lune," "Explosif," "Pacifique" and "Et si demain" are examples of some of the band's best works.
