Ulla Meinecke is a German pop star who emerged in 1977 with her debut album, Von toten Tigern und nassen Katzen. Unlike many of her contemporaries, she offers German-language pop music that has resonated well with a national audience, particularly in the mid 1980s with releases like 1985's Der Stolz italienischer Frauen, and the 1986 live album, Kurz vor 8. Though her mainstream popularity died down into the 2000s, Meinecke continues to record and release new material driven by her contemporary pop sound.
