By combining elements of Celtic folk with melodic death metal, the Switzerland-based folk metal band Eluveitie has succeeded in blending genres that exist on polar opposite sides of the music spectrum. The band was formed in 2002 and has since amassed a dedicated international following. The group tends to incorporate unusual instruments like the bagpipe, hurdy gurdy and Irish bouzouki into its music to give the band's songs a boost of originality.
