Based on the comic strip, Little Orphan Annie, the 1977 stage production Annie and its 1982 screen adaptation have become true American classics. The musical, with music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin and book by Thomas Meehan, follows the story of Annie, a spunky redheaded orphan, as she finds her way into the home and, eventually, the heart of millionaire "Daddy" Oliver Warbucks. Set against the backdrop of the Great Depression, the show is a tale of hope, heart and love, as Annie fights against the orphanage's mistress, Mrs. Hannigan and her crooked company. A childhood favorite, the irresistible production is full of memorable characters and iconic tunes, such as "Hard Knock Life" and "Tomorrow".
