Featuring
A popular group of the 1980s, British artist Bow Wow Wow is probably best known for the hit "I Want Candy." The idea for the band was conceived in 1980 by then Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren who convinced David Barbarossa, Matthew Ashman and Leigh Gorman to leave their band to form a new one. Anabella Lwin was brought on board after she auditioned for the lead singer of the group. It released its debut single "C·30 C·60 C·90 Go!" the same year through EMI Records as the world's first-ever cassette single. The single peaked at number 34 on the UK singles chart. The band's first full-length album See Jungle! See Jungle! Go Join Your Gang, Yeah. City All Over! Go Ape Crazy was released in 1981 via RCA Records. After the release of When the Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going in 1983, the group decided to disband amidst rising tensions among the members. In 1997, Lwin and Leigh Gorman reformed the group with Dave Calhoun on the guitar and drummer Eshan Khadaroo. The new group released a compilation album Wild in the U.S.A and performed at events such as the KROQ Inland Invasion. Gorman formed a new band by the same name in 2012, with singer Chloe Demetria and musicians Matthew Fuller, Lyle Riddle and Sean Winchester. Lwin continues to perform as 'Annabella Lwin of the original Bow Wow Wow.'
