Since debuting her first album Full Circle in 1997, Foster almost immediately rose to fame on the blues scene. Following the release of several subsequent album, Ruthie Foster's sixth album The Truth According to Ruthie Foster earned a Grammy nomination for "Best Contemporary Blues Album," and that same year in 2010, Foster was named "Contemporary Blues Female Artist of the Year" at the Blues Music Award.
