When the German electronic ensemble Scooter started making music in 1993, the rave scene was in full swing. The group achieved massive success with a sound that drew heavily from happy hard core and eurodance. Although, as ravers started to get older and drift away from the scene many of these bands that achieved notoriety found themselves void of any sort of solid listener base. So Scooter opted to reinvent itself and redefine its characteristic sound that so many people (mainly Germans) had come to know and love. The group's reincarnated sound is still fairly dance-friendly, more intense and less cheeky, now categorized as hard dance.
