Serving the tri-state area of Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin, the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra performs around two dozen classical, opera and pops shows a year. The orchestra's roots can be traced as far back as the early 1900s, but it wasn't until 1974 that it took its current name and began to develop yearly programs. The Dubuque Symphony Orchestra is comprised of a large number of players that includes sixty or so contracted performers and a number of substitute ones. Its commitment to performing both classic and modern works has kept it one of the Midwest's most respected orchestras for over three decades now.
