Beginning her musical career at age 17 upon joining the band Saddletramps, while earning her double degree in philosophy and woman's studies(!), Ontario based Sarah Harmer soon formed her own band after graduation called Weeping Tile. While this band was popular amongst the college crowd, it never managed mainstream success and was eventually dropped by its label. Giving up on music for a few years, Harmer decided one year to record an EP as a Christmas present for her father and after much convincing from her family, Harmer released the EP commercially in 1999. This EP coupled with the singer/songwriter's debut full-length, released a year later, skyrocketed Harmer to fame, pleasing many music critics, who deemed her album the best debut of the year. Sarah Harmer continues to successfully release albums and tour extensively today.
