As a child, Mick Flannery read literary works by John Steinbeck and Charles Bukowski. The strong images of late night debauchery and heavy hearted drunkenness left lasting impressions in Flannery's head, and when he started composing his own music these images would serve as inspiration for his lyrics. Born in Ireland to a working class family, Flannery has lived a double life as a stonemason and an artist, splitting his time between performing soft rock tunes on the stage and laying bricks.
