Scott Matthew is an Australia-born singer/songwriter who has developed a relatively small but devoted following for his albums and song contributions to film and television. Now based out of Brooklyn, Matthew was one half of the duo Elva Snow, a collaborative project between himself and former Morrissey band mate, Spencer Cobrin. His dramatic and emotional vocal delivery is unique in its ability to quickly transition from a hushed quaver to a booming falsetto at the drop of a hat--a quality that made director John Cameron Mitchell take notice and utilize him for his 2006 film Shortbus, to which Matthew contributed six songs. Whether accompanied simply by piano, cello, bass, ukulele or combination of the four, his music drips with a rich emotional vulnerability that can often be hauntingly beautiful.
