For a couple of days in September, Military Park is flooded with Irish music and room-temperature Guinness, as the annual Indy Irish Festival struts into town. This weekend festival is packed with some of the best cultural activities stemming from the Emerald Isle. The festival has events ranging from the Indianapolis Irish Dancers to a sheep herding demonstration. Local Irish Pubs cater most of the food at the festival, so after learning the ropes of being a sheep herder, rightfully indulge yourself with a Shepard's pie. Make sure to pack your kilt as well, because if you plan on partaking in the kilted mile you're going to need one to participate. So try your luck at winning some of the enviable prizes, such as the race's hairiest legs, best-dressed kilts, and poor chap least likely to finish.
