With their bleak aura, former industrial sites make for great venues for electronic music. Especially that of the more alternative kind, which is often darker and harder than the mainstream. Those are the sounds that the Tauron Nowa Muzyka festival trades in. The event, which takes place annually at the Katowice coal mine, features some of the world's most idiosyncratic dance acts--past guests include Flying Lotus and Mouse on Mars. The festival has a camping site, connected to the venue by shuttle.
