IBMA's Momentum Band of the Year for 2016, The Lil' Smokies is an American quintet formed in 2009. Musicians Scott Parker, Jake Simpson, Matt Rieger, Matt Cornette and Andy Dunnigan come together to create music that draws heavily on the smooth acoustic stylings of traditional bluegrass with all the energy of a rock band with progressive leanings. While its first album was released in 2013, the second, Changing Shades, followed five years later, distinguished by exceptional songwriting and eclectic influences that showcase the band's evolution. The Lil' Smokies have also performed live at festivals like the String Summit, Telluride Bluegrass and Grey Fox.
