Kew Palace, a small royal residence, was built around 1631 by Dutch merchant Samuel Fortrey. Used by the Royal Family from 1728, it became a permanent home for them in 1781 under King George III. After Queen Charlotte's death in 1818, the untouched Royal Kitchens at Kew are now open to visitors, offering a glimpse into Georgian culinary life and the roles of kitchen servants. Access to the kitchens is included in the Kew Palace admission ticket and is free for HRP members.
