Each year, the Lubbock chapter of Meals on Wheels puts on a spectacular celebration at the Memorial Civic Center on Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is celebrated the day before Ash Wednesday and the Catholic period of Lent. This is a day of extravagance, and this celebration will have you in the holiday spirit for sure. Highlights of the festivities include live jazz, food booths where you can gorge yourself with delicious cuisine, a silent auction, and a market. Besides all this, mixed in will be a variety of entertainers such as clowns and jugglers. Truly an event for the entire family, children's games will be plentiful as will crafts and face painting. A king and queen will be crowned and king cake and other Mardi Gras food will be on hand. Lubbock may not be New Orleans, but you can celebrate just the same! Tickets are $405 for adults and $10 for children under 17 years of age.
