Julia Fischer, as we all know, is an exceptional violinist who can be trusted to do anything. Even Britten's Violin Concerto, which still lags somewhat behind the popular Romantic violin warhorses in the public's favor. Wrongly so, as Julia Fischer's interpretation proves: She shapes Britten's cantilenas with well-controlled, clear-toned vibrato, and our amazement at her technical mastery is almost forgotten for all her violinistic aplomb. Suddenly we understand that Britten was of the opinion that his violin concerto was "undoubtedly my best piece". For many violin virtuosos, it is one of the greatest and most beautiful challenges in the entire violin repertoire, and it is undoubtedly one of the most impressive instrumental works from Britten's pen. As is well known, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, which has made a name for itself in the cultivation of traditional classical music, is gradually conquering a new, late-romantic, large-scale repertoire. In this concert, Britten and Shostakovich. And with chief conductor Michael Sanderling, one of the most competent and distinguished Shostakovich interpreters is on the podium - undoubtedly an event.Luzerner SinfonieorchesterChief Conductor: Michael SanderlingVioline: Julia FischerComposers & WorksBenjamin Britten (1913 - 1976)Concerto for violin and orchestra in D minor op. 15Dmitri Shostakovich (1906 - 1975)Symphony No. 11 in G minor op. 103 "The Year 1905"Please note: The program and the artists performing are subject to change.
