Harrisonburg, VA-based band The Steel Wheels is a folk/roots music outfit with influences in Americana, blues, old-time music and bluegrass. Fronted by lead vocalist and primary songwriter Trent Wagler, the band pays tribute to past American music with its simple sound while adding its own modern textures with four-part harmonies. After releasing its debut album, Journal of a Barefoot Soldier in 2005, The Steel Wheels slowly built its fan base in the Midwest and then across the nation with its fourth studio album, Red Wing. The 2010 album earned seven Independent Music Award nominations and spawned the track "Nothing You Can't Lose," which took home the prize for Best Country Song at the IMAs as well as the Vox Pop Awards the same year.
