Widely recognized as the host of Comedy Central's satirical news program The Daily Show, Jon Stewart is a comedian and writer known for his intelligent and hilarious brand of political satire. Born in New York City, he got his start as as stand-up comedian before getting into the television hosting game in 1991 as co-host of Comedy Central's Short Attention Span Theater, along with Patty Rosborough. After a few stints on MTV, including the network's first talk-show The Jon Stewart Show, and a handful of other television gigs, Stewart took over as host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central after Craig Kilborn left the show in 1999. Bridging the top news stories with biting humor and leaving no politician or new source unscathed by his critical eye, he quickly turned the program into a critical darling and network favorite, earning several Emmy Awards as producer and writer as well as a a Grammy for Best Comedy Album.
