Born William S. Levise, Jr., Mitch Ryder is a singer/songwriter and musician from Michigan who creates a blues-infused rock and roll sound. He started off his career playing with various outfits, before he formed Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels. Together they released several hit songs in the mid-1960s, such as "Devil with a Blue Dress On," and "Sock It to Me, Baby!" During this time, Ryder also released his own solo material. The band eventually dissolved, and Ryder then put together Detroit, a spinoff of the original band. Detroit operated for a couple of years before Ryder turned his full attention back to his own work. He continues to release new records, such as 2012's The Promise, with his signature blues rock sound.
