The Audience is a play that imagines the conversations that take place between Queen Elizabeth II and her prime ministers during their weekly private meetings. These meetings, known as audiences, have been held since 1952 with the understanding that no one would repeat was was said, not even to their inner circles and spouses. The Audience attempts to recreate what might have happened during a series of conversations between the Queen and the head of Her Majesty's Government, from Winston Churchill to David Cameron. From intimate confessionals to explosive arguments, the interactions reveal the great wisdom and humanity of each party.
