Explore Ottawa’s famous haunted jail and real-life murder mystery! Tour the cellblocks of the old Carleton County Jail (now the Saintlo Ottawa Jail Hostel) where inmates of all kinds were once imprisoned. Retrace the final footsteps of the condemned as you walk from Death Row to the last working gallows in Canada. In 1869, was an innocent man executed for the murder of Thomas D’Arcy McGee, a popular Canadian politician? Does he still haunt the hallways of the jail to this day? Join us on this 75-minute paranormal adventure and find out for yourself! Please Note: This tour begins from our ticket office at 46 Sparks Street (near the scene of the murder) and makes it way over to old jail as we delve deeper into the hauntings. About half the tour is outdoors. It is offered in English or French - not both at the same time. The French departure time is usually 8:40pm. If booking in French for a time other than 8:40pm, please reach out to confirm.
