Born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Steve Kimock picked up the guitar at an early age and once he was old enough decided to move to San Francisco in the hopes of beginning a successful guitar career. Once there, Kimock began performing with folk band Goodman Brothers in the 1970s, which helped him build a reputation in the bay area. Though most famous for playing with nearly all of the Grateful Dead's members' side bands, Kimock also began his own eponymous band and often tours his style of jam band-styled roots rock on solo tours.
