Best known for playing a semi-fictional version of himself in the hit sitcom Seinfeld, Jerry Seinfeld is an American comedian, actor and writer from Massapequa, NY who is often described as an observational comedian. By Seinfeld's fourth season, the show had become the most popular and successful sitcom on American television before ultimately leaving the air in 1998 after a nine year run. After his sitcom went off the air, Seinfeld returned to stand-up comedy, and his process of developing and performing new material at clubs around the world was chronicled in Christian Charles' 2002 documentary, Comedian. Seinfeld has also written a few books, several of which archive many of his past routines.
