Bombino is the stage name for Omara "Bombino" Moctar, a world music guitarist and vocalist from Agadez, Niger who belongs to the nomadic Tuareg tribe of North Africa. Since breaking out onto the international world music scene in 2009, Bombino has already become one of the world's leading talents currently showcasing the "dry guitar" style of the Tuareg musical culture. In addition to his success on the world stage, Bombino has also done much to bring attention to the culture and political strife of the Agadez region of Niger, where the Tuareg people have staged two rebellions in the 20th Century.
