After rising to fame on a local radio station as the character Richie, he became the primary host of radio programs on Radio NRW including Peppers: The Comedy Camp, and developed other aliases such as Louis van Gaal. His brand of comedy pop earned him widespread recognition, as his songs charter among other pop hits. He has release music under his stage name as well as his birth name, including his 1997 debut album Sonst hol isch meinä Brüda!, as Richie and 2012's Ein Traum, as Matze Knop.
