Produced in The Netherlands, Holiday on Ice actually has its roots in the United States dating back to the 1940s. It began in 1943 as a family-oriented ice revue with new musical and dance themes devised every year to be performed by professional ice skaters. The show branched off into Europe during the 1950s, while the US-based show ended in 1970. Since then, Europe has continued the Holiday on Ice tradition with much success, often producing several shows simultaneously each year throughout Europe and Latin America.
