The Christmas shopping season has officially begun by the time the Saskatoon Santa Claus Parade rolls around. This annual event first began in 1990 and always features a magical and eclectic series of floats. The parade, which begins near Friendship Park and ends at Midtown Plaza, has throughout the years seen marching bands, festooned fire trucks, Santa on his sleigh, horse contingents and countless others. Many local businesses donate and participate in the parade to help make it special; proceeds go towards the local Ronald McDonald House charity.
