From an early age it was evident that Cee Lo Green was gifted with a unique voice and a knack writing for pensive lyrics. Born in Atlanta, Georgia to two ordained ministers, Green originally grew his musical legs singing gospel tunes in church. Green's father died when he was two and his mother died when he was 18, causing the young singer to reflect on these personal losses on the subsequent songs that he would come to write. He first rose to success with the Southern hip-hop group Goodie Mob and after recording a few albums with the outfit he decided to break out on his own as a solo performer. His unique soulful voice helped rise the Southern singer to prominence and critical recognition and after teaming up with producer extraordinare Danger Mouse - collaborating under the Gnarles Barkley guise - Green's voice became widely recognized by the general listening public. The Atlanta based crooner is still releasing solo material, though, and Green continues to win listeners over with his powerful voice and booming personality.
