Lauryn Hill is a recording artist and actress from New Jersey who has been active in the entertainment industry since 1988. She began her career in the groundbreaking three-piece hip-hop group, The Fugees, singing on the group's hit cover of Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly." She launched her solo career with the record breaking crossover album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, making her a household name. Her first major acting role was in the film Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, where she demonstrated her singing talents on the big screen. Today she is one of the most respected urban female recording artists, and has expanded her sound to include acoustic and gospel influences.
