Burton Cummings is a Canadian singer/songwriter best known as the lead singer and keyboardist of the popular 1960s/1970s classic rock band, The Guess Who. He was raised in Winnipeg, where he performed in local bands until an opportunity to replace the keyboard player for The Guess Who arose. With the group, Cummings sang and helped pen a number of hit singles, including "American Woman," "These Eyes" and "No Time." In 1975, he left the band to pursue a solo career that included writing songs for film and television. The Guess Who briefly reunited in 2000, playing a handful of shows scattered over the following few years. Since then, Cummings continue to tour and release solo material, and has even written a book of poetry.
