An unorthodox, yet eye-catching, Midlothian Castle is best known for its rather frightening appearance and intriguing underlying story. The brainchild of Peter Camani, a school teacher in the mid 70s, the castle and its surrounding sculptures have gone on to become one of the most popular attractions in the rather quiet city. From the ghastly design of the castle to the eerie figures and sculptures, spread out on the grounds surrounding it, there is no lack of peculiarity at this fascinating location.
