La Rochelle is an important sea port of France. The place mostly visited is the old harbour with the two towers, St Nicolas Tower and the Tower of the Chain. The town has a beauty of its own with clean streets, stone houses and many old buildings now housing many shops. There is also the La Rochelle Aquarium and a Natural History Museum. The gargoyles and lighthouses will take you to another era completely. Even in modern times, La Rochelle has held on to its cultural heritage which makes it a favorite among the tourists.
