Gut Emkendorf

During the 16th century this estate was used as a farm, and was transformed into a manor with additional buildings around 1729. The baron of Bülow Emkendorf bought the estate and organised the extension. Today the building looks just like it did in the second half of the 18th century, when Reventlow family owned it and completed the renovations. Under the supervision of Gottlob Horn the Baroque building with its three wings was redesigned in a Classical fashion. The artists Tadei and Pellicia equipped the walls with beautiful paintings. The house was frequented by famous statesmen and poets like Lavater, Klopstock and Claudius. Today the baroness of Lüttwitz-Heinrich is in charge of the estate and allows public cultural events to take place, and guided tours for groups can also visit the manor on request. The rich and elegant English garden is open to visitors and is a nice place to take a walk.
