You'll find a fine example of a 13th-century square tower joined to an 18th-century mansion house, which is crammed full of paintings and lovely antique furniture. Drum Castle was home to the Irvine family for over many years, and is to the west of Aberdeen, an easy drive. You'll be delighted by the 16th-century chapel with its stained glass windows. Outside, there are nature trails, a rose garden, a playground for the kids, a shop and a tearoom.
