The classicist building was built in 1751 as the Royal Military Academy. The middle pavilion with its Corinthian columns is modelled on an ancient temple. To this day the edifice serves as the headquarters of one of the best military academies in the country. Its most famous graduate was Napoléon I. He was later crowned the first Emperor of France.
