The Santa Fe Railyard has been in existence since the year 1880, and over those 100+ years, the site has enjoyed prosperity as well as decay and decline. In 2002, the city and the Santa Fe Railyard Community Corporation joined forces to create a park for residents which opened in 2008. The southern end of the 50-acre site includes manicured trails and green spaces while the northern end features the cultural center Site, several art galleries, restaurants and the Museo Cultural de Santa Fe.
