Altstadt Biel or the Old Town of Biel is one of the most charming, and aesthetically beautiful parts of the city. Soaked in history and culture, this was the center of the city's trade and industry during the 12th and 13th century. Peppered with numerous historical sites, including churches, squares, medieval gates and towers, the district maintains an appearance, reminiscent of the early 1900s. In the present day, many galleries, antique shops, restaurants, theaters and cafes are found here.
